Navigating the Creator Economy: AI Video Generators for Social Content

Video content is a must have for businesses and content creators wanting to compete. At the same time, it has never been more accessible to create professional looking video content by using AI to do most of the work. This article lists some of the more popular AI video generators targeting marketers or anyone in business looking to create everything from HR training videos to YouTube clips, highlight reels, voiceovers or targeted marketing content to be published online and social networks, as YouTube videos, Tiktok Reels or video ads.

They pretty much all share some common denominators. They don’t require much if any prior experience of editing or design. Many are browser-based, meaning they can accessed from anywhere via an app. Most work with just a few clicks requiring the upload of some raw content (a blog post for example) and user choice of voice and “avatar” to personalize the video. The output of shortform content complete with background music, graphics and templates is done in a few minutes.

However, as SproutVideo’s Conner Carey points out, the videos they generate leave significant room for improvement. “These shortcomings make them most effective at creating faceless videos with voiceovers, such as for FAQs and blog post summaries,” he notes.

Currently, all of these tools produce about the same quality of AI-generated video. But what differentiates the good from the bad (and the ugly) is how easy the platform allows you to edit the video, adding your footage, scenes, music, and more.

Most reviewers advise trying a few (most offer free trials) to ascertain ease of use and results.

Here’s a pick of 10 AI video generators for marketers available to use today, leaning on the selections of Alex McFarland at Unite.ai.

With Pictory you start by providing a script or article, which will serve as the base for video content. For example, turn your blog post into a video to be used for social media or your website.

“This is a great feature for personal bloggers and companies looking to increase engagement and quality,” says McFarland. “It’s simple to use and takes just minutes before delivering professional results that help you grow your audience and build your brand.”

Another feature of Pictory, for those looking to create trailers or share short clips on social media, is that you can create shareable highlight reels. And you can also automatically caption and summarize videos.

Synthesys relies on text-to-video technology to transform scripts into dynamic media presentations. Creators and companies can use Synthesys to create videos with lip-syncing AI video technology. All you have to do is choose an avatar and type your script in one of 140+ languages, and the tool will do the rest.

The software offers 69 real “Humatars,” and a voicebank of 254 unique styles. It also offers full customization, an “easy-to-use” interface for editing and rendering, and high-resolution output. Again, it is aimed at marketers or creators wanting to generate explainer videos and product tutorials in minutes.

But it’s not to be confused with Synthesia, another platform targeting brands that also enables users to quickly create videos with one of 70 AI avatars. Besides the preset avatars, you can also create your own. Synthesia claims to be used by some of the world’s biggest names like Google, Nike, Reuters and BBC.

McFarland notes that Synthesia’s AI voice generation platform “makes it easy to get consistent and professional voiceovers, which can be easily edited with the click of a button.” These voiceovers also include closed captions. Once you have an avatar and voiceover, you can produce quality videos in minutes with more than 50 pre-designed templates.

If you’re looking for a more powerful AI to generate marketing and explainer videos, InVideo might be the one. It doesn’t require any background in video creation or video editing, either. All you have to do is input your text, select the best template or customize your own, and download the finished video. The video content can then be shared directly to social media. InVideo says its users develop promo videos, presentations, video testimonials and slideshows.

HeyGen claims to make video creation “as easy as making PowerPoints.” Once again, the process is to record and upload your real voice to create a personalized avatar, or simply type in the text that you want. There’s a wide range of voices with more than 300+ to choose from. There are multiple customizations available including combining several scenes into one video and, of course, adding music that matches the theme of the video.

The Deepbrain AI tool offers the ability to create AI-generated videos using basic text. Simply prepare your script and use the text-to-speech feature to receive your first AI video in five minutes or less.

VEED also makes it easy to transcribe your video files in one click. All you have to do is upload your video, click “Auto Transcribe,” and download the transcript. With its free video editing app, you can work on creating content right in your browser.

Fliki apparently makes creating videos as simple as writing with its script-based editor. To McFarlane, Fliki stands out from other tools because it combines text-to-video AI and text-to-speech AI capabilities to give an all-in-one platform for content creation. It features more than 2,000 text-to-speech voices across 75+ languages.

The Colossyan video generator enables users to choose from a diverse range of avatars and provide the avatar with a script. After your first video is generated, you can then target different regions by auto-translating your whole video with the touch of a button. You can easily change accents and clothing and choose from upwards of 120 languages.

Elai.io users generate video from the link to an article or a blogpost in just three clicks. You first copy and paste a blog post URL or HTML text before choosing one of the templates from the library. All that’s left to do is review the video, make any changes, and render and download it. There are over 60 languages available and more than 25 avatars to choose from. Besides selecting a presenter from the library, you can also request a personal avatar.

Biteable is an AI video assistant and in-browser editing suite that helps create simple, templated videos from script to edit with just one prompt. You choose the video type (explainer, promo, how-to, etc.), the format (landscape, vertical or square), and the visual style from a variety of options and, of course, enter a descriptive prompt. It generates a slideshow-style video complete with AI-generated script, stock video, images, and royalty-free background music.

While it may not win any awards for cinematography, “it’s incredibly useful for creating quick social videos or promoting product updates, rates Vidyard.

Vidyo.ai uses AI to create Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts from long-form video content. Once you upload a video or insert a URL, the platform takes a few minutes to produce a handful of potential short video content with captions. Munch is a comparable tool spotted by Vidyard, “albeit with slightly less impressive results. However, some users may find the customization functionalities easier to use.
